Turn your lights off for Earth Hour 2010
BOMA BC is once again supporting the annual Earth Hour event. Earth Hour 2010 encourages people to show their commitment to energy conservation by turning off their lights for one hour, from 8:30 to 9:30pm on March 27. BOMA BC invites members to sign up at www.wwf.ca/earthhour and participate in this popular conservation event.
BC Hydro Power Smart Forum & Excellence Awards call for nominations
This year, BC Hydro is combining its popular Power Smart Excellence Awards and the Power Smart Forum into one exciting event: the 2010 Power Smart Forum & Excellence Awards. The event takes place from October 25 – 27 at the Vancouver Convention Centre.
BC Hydro has just issued a call for nominations for the Workplace Conservation Leadership award. It has also issued a call for speakers for the Forum. The submission deadline for both opportunities is April 30, 2010 at 4:00pm. More information about the 2010 Power Smart Awards and Forum is at www.bchydro.com/businessevents .
BOMA International and BOMA Canada Sign MOU
BOMA International recently hosted a meeting with the board of directors of BOMA Canada to discuss complementary programs, joint interests and future opportunities to work together. Issues discussed included green initiatives and programs, benchmarking building performance and bringing leadership and owner groups together on a regular basis. A highlight of the meeting was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

soon be energy efficient thanks to a recently signed agreement between the
Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources, BC Hydro and the
Building Owners and Managers Association of BC (BOMA).

First BOMA BESt Level 4 certification achieved in BC
Shaw Tower, managed by Westbank Projects Corporation, is the first building to achieve BOMA BESt Level 4 in British Columbia. Shaw Tower, located in Vancouver, demonstrates outstanding achievement in the areas of energy and water resource management, waste and emission reduction, indoor environment and management systems in addition to initiating green programs amongst their tenants including, battery recycling, commuter ride-sharing and a joint landlord/tenant action committee.
