Feedback needed! Certified Professional Project Permit Fees: City of Vancouver to terminate refund practice

Partial refunds for Certified Professional (CP) project permit fees have been an option for eligible projects since 1987. The original intent of the partial refund practice was to encourage developers to engage Certified Professionals as an alternative, expedited processing stream.

The City of Vancouver has indicated they no longer need to incentivize CP applications through a partial refund practice as the program is well established.

 

As of 1 January 2024, CP projects will no longer be eligible for partial permit fee refunds.

Exceptions:

CP projects with a Building permit that features a successful Intake as of 31 December 2023 will continue to be able to request partial permit fee refunds within ninety days of Final Occupancy, for a period of five years – that is, until 31 December 2028.
