Chief Operating Officer

Established in 1982, Affordable Housing Societies (AHS) is a leading non-profit housing provider committed to providing affordable, quality rental homes so that families, seniors and individuals can thrive. Today, AHS operates a portfolio of 4,052 rental housing units, with an additional 242 units currently under construction, and owns and manages well over 4 million square feet of residential real estate across 15 municipalities throughout British Columbia’s Lower Mainland, serving diverse communities and housing needs across the region.

AHS is seeking a Chief Operating Officer (COO) to provide strong operational leadership and ensure the effective execution of the organization’s strategic priorities. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the COO will translate organizational direction into day-to-day performance, strengthening service delivery and driving operational effectiveness across the organization. Working closely with leaders and operational teams, the COO will bring greater operational rigour to AHS, strengthening systems, processes, accountability and collaboration while fostering a consistent, tenant-centred approach and a culture of continuous improvement.

The successful candidate will be an authentic and collaborative operational leader with experience overseeing complex, multi-functional environments and translating strategy into effective execution. They will bring strong business and financial acumen, sound judgment and an enterprise mindset, with the ability to assess how organizational structures, systems and processes can best support effective operations. An emotionally intelligent and empathetic leader, they will be an effective team builder and delegator who develops leadership capacity, empowers others and creates clear accountability. The successful candidate will also bring demonstrated change leadership and the technical literacy to recognize and leverage technology that can improve operations, service delivery and organizational performance. Experience in affordable housing, residential property management, real estate, facilities, seniors’ housing or another asset-intensive and service-oriented environment would be an asset.

The targeted salary range for this position is $140,000 – 160,000 annually, supplemented by a competitive total rewards package.
