Peterson is hiring a Controller, Development to lead project accounting and financial reporting across our development portfolio. As part of the Accounting team, this role works closely with Finance, Construction, Development, and Sales & Marketing departments to support project budgets, cash flow, forecasting, cost tracking, and variance analysis. We are looking for a CPA-designated accounting professional who brings sound judgement, strong attention to detail, and the ability to translate project financials into clear insights that support thoughtful decision-making.
What you’ll focus on
- Development accounting and financial reporting across a portfolio of projects.
- Project budgets, forecasts, cash flow, cost tracking, and variance analysis.
- Accurate project financials, working papers, and reporting deliverables.
- Collaboration with Development, Construction, and Finance departments.
- Process improvement, reporting enhancements, and stronger financial controls.
- Clear financial insights to support project performance and decision-making.
What you bring
- CPA / CA / CGA / CMA designation required.
- 5+ years of relevant experience with project reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis.
- Strong technical accounting judgement and attention to detail.
- Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with complex financial information.
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and tact when handling sensitive and confidential information.
- Experience with Yardi, particularly Job Cost Module, is an asset.
Salary range: $130,000 to $150,000 per annum (based on experience).
